Day one of the Social Media Marketing World Conference (#SMMW16) was pretty awesome.
The conference begins with Michael Stelzner’s opening keynote address, “Social Media Marketing in 2016: What the Newest Research Reveals”.
It’s a very detailed piece of research he shares about trends happening in social media which gives you a pulse on where things are headed.
You can check out one of the more recent articles on the Social Media Examiner’s website by CLICKING HERE.
After the opening keynote I attended my first session which was also very awesome and interesting.
Derral Eves and the Potty Squatty
I think you’ll crack up at the title of this session, it was called: “Unicorn Poop: How to Use YouTube to Create and Sell Your Products and Services”.
This track session was taught by Derral Eves. He’s a pro at using YouTube to help your business sell more products and services online. Check out his website and YouTube channel, it’s loaded with tons of great content.
During the training class Derral broke down the Squatty Potty video and the formula behind it.This formula can be used for marketing any product and/or service. It was amazing to see him break down the formula for this video not only because the video is hilarious, but it’s a very simple formula that anybody can replicate and use.
I plan on using Darral’s formula for my own future videos here at Agent Redefined.

My Interview with Gary Pittard
I met Gary right after Derrel Eve’s presentation and I’m glad we met. In the short time we got to speak I found him to be authentic, super friendly, and I liked his approach to selling, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
You can listen to our conversation about real estate marketing in this episode.
Gary also gave me a copy of his new book, “Why Winners Win”.
At the the time of editing and writing this post I’ve made it half way through the book and I like it. It’s a pretty simple model which gives you a formula, or plan, for achieving success in your business. It’s backed up with tons of case studies and research.
Even more impressive is the recommendation Bob Burg give the book. If you don’t know who Bob Burg is, then I highly recommend you check out his work and book The Go-Giver.
You can get a copy of Gary’s new book on his site by CLICKING HERE.
Gary’s website has all of his info about their trainings, courses, and events at www.Pittard.com.au.
Gary Pittard talks about getting more listings
In this video Gary breaks down 10 simple rules to winning more listings.
Do you know who Bob Burg is?
If you don’t know who Bob Burg is, you might have heard this quote from him…
“All things being equal, people will do business with, and refer business to, those people they know, like and trust.”
I love his book The Go-Giver and what he teaches. He just makes it all very simple. I personally have both the book and the audiobook version and love them both.
Here’s a video where he discusses it.
Final thoughts about the conference…
Social Media Marketing World is not your typical marketing conference because of two major things.
They are, the conference attendees and speakers.
There is a very cool vibe I get every year with all of the attendees and speakers at this event. Everyone is friendly and wants to geek out about marketing.
The speakers are all accessible, if you have a question for them they will most likely answer it for you.
All of this creates a synergy of learning, discovery, and just plain fun.
If you’re a real estate agents and want to learn how to use social media, videos, and your website to build your business online, then you’re going to have to start attending marketing events outside of the real estate industry. Unfortunately, many of the gurus within real estate who are teaching this are more interested in selling agents info, training, and software.
I usually find the content the real estate marketing gurus are supplying to be light on depth, but very big on their sales pitches.
At Social Media Marketing World every track session, workshop, and keynote is pure 100% USDA Content.
There are no back of the room sales, no selling from stage, or using your pain points in your business to create a need/desire for the gurus products.
That’s why I think it’s one of the best and well worth the price. More episodes recorded live from the event are coming soon… YAY
