Bob Burg doesn’t teach social media.
He doesn’t teach technology.
But what he does teach is absolutely crucial if you want to learn how to use both in your real estate business.
Bob Burg is the Author of the book “The Go-Giver”, and I highly recommend you check this book out.
(find out below how you can get a copy of the book for free)
I have both the hardcover and audiobook version of it and they play a big part in how I run my business at Agent Redefined.
It’s an easy short read at 150 pages, and teaches an important business lesson in a story format.
The Convergence of Marketing and How You Run Your Business
All of the best marketing in the world won’t help your business if you’re running an average business.
Social media, videos, and a fancy website are all great, but if you’re offering average services as a real estate agent, and basically are no different than any other agent in your market, then awesome marketing won’t really help you get to where you want to go.
The best marketing a real estate agent can create is to focus in on delivering a great service and tremendous value to your clients.
First, it all begins with what you’re offering as an agent.
- Are you delivering the best possible experience you can for your clients?
- Are your clients responding back with complete enthusiasm by having gone through the experience of working with you?
- Are you over-delivering on what your offer to your clients consistently?
Before you start spending $100’s of dollars on Zillow ads or some other “lead generating” thing, focus in on what you’re offering the marketplace.
What are you giving to buyers for working with you?
What are you giving to sellers for working with you?
(HINT: It’s not about dollars and cents and cutting commissions)
Just having a license to sell real estate is not enough.
Your license doesn’t give you a RIGHT to sell real estate.
It only gives your the legal ability to collect a commission from the sale of a piece of property and be able to represent buyers and/or sellers in the sale of it.
Know, Like, and Trust
Bob Burg is famous today for his book, “The Go-Giver”, and this quote from his other book “Endless Referrals”.
“All things being equal,
people do business with,
and refer business to people
they know, like, and trust”.
It’s so simple, yet so powerful as a platform for how to run your business.
It’s also how you should approach using Social Media and Technology.
When using any one of the Social Media platforms, use it in a way which helps others get to Know, Like, and Trust you.
Using social media for the straight up – direct sale of a home or a home purchase is not a viable long term strategy.
Real estate is a People Business.
And because it’s a people business, it really means you’re not in the business of selling homes, your in the business of building relationships.
And, when you focus in on building relationships first, the sales will take care of themselves.
Social media is actually SOCIAL.
Social media platforms ARE NOT distribution channels (like Craigslist) to push your sales pitches.
Rather they are networks, where you can scale your ability to build relationships both online and offline.
When it comes to technology use the same approach.
Whatever the technology, software, and/or app is, if it doesn’t help you in getting more people to Know, Like, and Trust you, then it’s probably not worth your time, money, and other resources
