There are several companies servicing the real estate industry which offer to manage all of a real estate agent’s social media marketing for them. These companies promise to effectively create engagement with your connections on Social Media platforms like Facebook & LinkedIn.
I believe you SHOULD NOT use these services for essentially “taking over” all of your social media marketing.
I believe your social media marketing is just TOO IMPORTANT to not manage yourself over the longterm of running your business.
How to use Social Media the Right Way for Lead Generation…
A real estate agent in today’s connection economy cannot afford TO NOT learn how to execute their own marketing on Social Media. The power of social media is in being able to attract the Attention of your Audience online.
Your Audience is your new, old, and future connections which you’re wanting to get business from online. However, just because your connected to them via social media doesn’t mean they want to do business with you because your posting “real estate stuff” all of the time.
Marketing on Social Media is a long term game, where there is no room for short term thinking.
People don’t just give out their attention freely. Attention means TIME and nobody has spare time to waste today. Gaining and keeping people’s attention on social media should be your primary focus. To keep this attention you’ll need create posts which develop and nurture longterm ENGAGEMENT.
Engagement is a true two-way street of communications between you, your message, and your audience. As a real estate agent you’ll want engagement because it’s engagement which will create “Top of Mind Awareness”.
When an agent has nurtured Top of Mind Awareness of their brand and services with their Audience, leads are then generated. This is how you market yourself on social media.
Why The Hands Off Approach Doesn’t Work
If you market your brand and business correctly on social media you can scale yourself in ways which were inconceivable just 10 years ago. To be able to reach all of your A-List connections with a message in just a few seconds is incredible.
The key is your message.
Your message will either connect with your Audience or it will not.
The problem with these services to manage your social media is not being able to control the message and make it personable.
Your message has to include everything that you and your brand is all about. These are the things which make you special and makes you stand out from the rest of the agents you’re competing against.
People want to do business with people they like. Real Estate is a popularity contest when it comes to choosing an agent. By allowing another company to take over you’re social media marketing you’re holding back and not allowing the Audience to see and experience everything you’re all about.
Your personality, work ethic, expertise, and everything else that makes you Fascinating are what people within your Audience will remember about you, which why Top of Mind Awareness is so important. Finally, this is what your Audience wants. They don’t want slick “sales pitches” or infomercials, they want to do business with real people, whom they like, and can ultimately trust.
Marketing on Facebook
In 2015, Facebook is the single most important social media platform for any real estate agent to use. It is the modern Online Database in the connection economy. Facebook should not be treated like a classifieds newspaper or Craigslist, so you’re posts on should be creative and individualistic.
If Facebook is your Online Database, this means your most important connections are most likely on it. These connections are also known as your A-List people. They are part of your overall Audience.
These connections must be respected and nurtured if you want to get new business and referral leads from them. No new technology or software can take over your Facebook profile and truly nurture these relationships the way you can with the proper training.
Furthermore, why would you want these services and/or software to manage it for you?
These relationships are too valuable for your longterm financial success to just carelessly depend on heartless software to manage it for you.
Great Marketing is simply just Great Communications.
Technology should only be used to assist us in the DELIVERY of our own personally crafted messages. It’s ultimately the MESSAGE which is still the most important element of Great Communications.
